Summer of local love & connections at Farm Kitchen

Summer weddings are back at Farm Kitchen. They have been sweet and intimate and fun and elegant. And most of the weddings we are a part of this year have something special in common. They are making me think local.

Local couples. Those who have always been here and those who moved away and are coming back to get married. So many FK couples have a connection to the venue. A friend was married here. A couple came to breakfast here when they were dating. They came to gingerbread parties with their parents. Their families and friends are here. They have memories made here. And some part of their hearts are here in Kitsap.

Local vendors. We have weddings catered by our kitchen users, delicious meals so smoothly prepared. We are watching a terrific event planner implement entirely different ideas for different couples. Seeing a DJ show up totally comfortable because they’ve done countless weddings at Farm Kitchen before it changed hands. Flower farmer/florists who share beautiful blooms and growing tips as they work. We have met bartenders, sign makers, photographers and more through local wedding events. And all of them want to see local businesses thrive. They support each other, make referrals, vouch for one another. They are excited about the creativity and professionalism they see in their peers. We’re making connections and learning who we can reach out to with ideas and who might have a great suggestion. An interesting thing is happening. While the couples commit to one another and celebrate their relationship, we, too, are building relationships.

Mostly we are finding that the small business owners who are helping Kitsap folks celebrate their special events are warm, passionate, kind people. The love for their work and their community shows. And we are so grateful to be able to join them in this work.
